Roger Cawthon is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He spent eight years as a television sportscaster with CNN and with ABC and CBS affiliates. His many and varied experiences include a round of golf with Jack Nicklaus, a few (very few!) rounds in the ring with heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, an impromptu on-stage duet with James Brown singing the classic "Proud Mary," and the completion of the 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon. Roger is also an entrepreneur who has built a multi-million dollar sales organization. Of all his titles and accomplishments, however, Roger is proudest of "Cancer Survivor.”

Kathy Cawthon is a freelance writer and photographer whose work has appeared in such national publications as McCall's, Ladies' Home Journal, Family Circle, and Writer's Digest magazines. She is the author of The Devil's Web (co-authored with private investigator Pat Pulling), Getting Out: An Escape Manual for Abused Women, and, with Roger, Medicine, Marathons and Miracles: Turning a Diagnosis of Cancer into Personal Victory. Her work is also featured in the recently released Chicken Soup for the Breast Cancer Survivor’s Soul. She has received numerous awards from Virginia Press Women, The National Federation of Press Women, and the Virginia Press Association. Kathy is a graduate of the College of William and Mary where she is also a Fellow of the Eastern Virginia Writing Project. Side-by-side with husband Roger, she completed the Marine Corps Marathon.

The Cawthons have received the American Cancer Society’s "Board of Trustees Award for Outstanding Achievement," and they were recently honored as “2006 Yoplait Champions” by Yoplait and its parent company General Mills, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and SELF magazine.  You can read more about all of the Yoplait Champions here and you can view the short videos about all of the Yoplait Champions that were shown during the awards presentation in New York City here (be sure to scroll down to Kathy's photo to view the video about The Cancer Crusade!).

The Cawthons' professional memberships include the National Speakers Association, Virginia Speakers Association, and The Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor.
